Forensic Firearm ID Accessories                    

In an effort to provide teachers with the best possible instructional aids while still ensuring a safe environment, Precision Forensic Testing has developed a number of accessories.

NEW SB-02 - This slide/barrel combination has more than 75% of the slide removed to expose the firing pin, extractor, breechface, and barrel (also partially removed to expose rifling).  The whole unit is attached to an inert frame portion which allows you to move the slide back and forth.  This is an awesome display and demonstration exhibit.

NEW BU-01 - This set of 14 unfired bullets include 2 each of the following: Jacketed, Semi-Jacketed Hollowpoint, Semi-Jacketed Softpoint, Lead Round Nose, Semi-Wadcutter, Wadcutter, and Boat Tail.  This set makes a great addition to the FA-01 kit and can be used as part of a practical exam sample.

NEW BL-65 - This oversized (1" diameter x 5" long) aluminum barrel has been cut in half to expose large easy-to-see lands and grooves.  This unit is a great way to demonstrate barrel characteristics without having to use magnification.

NEW SN-16 - 16 additional pieces of metal (8 stainless and 8 carbon steel) for use with SN-01.  These extra pieces can be used to increase the number of students performing the lab exercise.  Extra pieces are also nice to have around when having back-to-back classes performing the lab exercise and limited time to re-obliterate the numbers.

RE-02 - The Shooting Reconstruction Accessory Kit includes extra aluminum trajectory rods, angle finder, levels, protractors, and tape measure for maximum use of the components included in the Reconstruction Kit

BL-09 - This 9mm barrel section has been cut in half to reveal the lands and grooves.  This sample has a right hand twist (the barrel included with FA-01 has a left hand twist).

BL-22 - This .22 caliber barrel section also has a right hand twist and has been cut in half to reveal the lands and grooves.  It is a bit smaller in diameter than BL-09, but an economical alternative.

FP-01 - This is an actual firing pin from a firearm.  Students can examine the tip of the firing pin under magnification and observe the individual characteristics.  This is an excellent add-on to the FA-01 kit.

FP-05 - Set of 5 firing pins to allow multiple students to observe characteristics under magnification.

BF-01 - This sample is a bolt from a firearm which includes the breechface, extractor, and firing pin.  All of these surfaces can be examined under magnification for the purpose of exploring the source of marks on fired cartridge cases.  This is also an excellent add-on to the FA-01 kit.

SB-01 - This slide/barrel combination is from an actual semiautomatic pistol.  However, it has been made safe by the removal of part of the slide and part of the barrel to expose the rifling.  This demonstrative aid includes the firing pin, extractor, breechface, and barrel (with exposed rifling).  Additional modifications have been taken to ensure the slide/barrel is non-functional, such as welding inside the slide.  These modifications make the slide 100% safe and non-functional.

CG-06 - Six inert display cartridges are perfect for demonstrating the various aspects of unfired cartridges in a safe condition.  Each cartridge has been drilled through both sides and the primer has been drilled out.  This ensures the cartridges are physically inert, and could never be made active.  Additionally, the holes through the side make them visually recognizable as inert.  Included in each pack is a .308, .223, .38 Spl., .45, .40, and 9mm cartridge.  These would also be a nice addition to a mock crime scene.

CG-45 - A ten pack of inert .45 cartridges.  These cartridges have been rendered inert by drilling through both sides of the cartridge and the primer pocket drilled out.  Perfect for a mock crime scene.

CG-22 - A ten pack of inert .223 cartridges.  These cartridges have been rendered inert by drilling through both sides of the cartridge and the primer pocket drilled out.  Perfect for a mock crime scene.

BU-01 - This combo pack includes a bunter and cartridge case.  Bunters are used to stamp the manufacturers marks on the headstamp of a cartridge case.  The combination of the bunter in conjunction with the cartridge case is an excellent way to show students first hand, how manufacturers make cartridge cases.  The cartridge case included with the bunter will have the same manufacture initials, but other marks may not exactly match up.

CA-01 - Stainless Steel calipers.  These calipers are used in the Firearm ID kit (FA-01) and Advanced Firearm ID kit (AD-01).  Calipers are essential for measuring accurately to 0.001" of an inch.  The lab exercises require the use of calipers, so additional sets should be considered.

MA-01 - Six pack of 2 inch 8X hand magnifiers used in the Serial Number Restoration kit (SN-01).  These additional magnifiers may be used to help increase the number of students performing the lab exercises.

FM-01 - Six pack of 3 inch 3X folding magnifiers used in the Toolmark Identification kit (TM-01).  Additional magnifiers can be used to allow more students to participate in laboratory exercises.  These can also be used with the Firearm Identification (FA-01) lab when measuring bullet characteristics.
